It is impossible to imagine a world without beautiful trees, shrubs and a variety of herbaceous and flowering plants.

Not only our health and psychological state, but the rest of life as a whole depends on them.

And everyone knows about their aesthetic and environmental significance.

Today we will take a closer look at what landings can be made along the fence and paths, how to arrange them, and we will give the most popular assortment.

Landing along the fence

Having bought a cottage or a plot for building a house, the first thing the owner usually does is to install a fence. First draft, and then permanent, solid, designed to serve for many years.

However, no matter how beautiful it is, a solid canvas will look dull, monotonous and uninteresting. And even a neatly trimmed lawn will not smooth out the impression of emptiness.

To correct the above shortcomings, it is enough to correctly plant along the fence ornamental plants. And there are many options for creating compositions.

The main thing is to follow some rules:

  • trees and shrubs should be planted at such a distance from the fence that the roots do not damage its base. Usually it is 3-5 m for trees and 1-1.5 m for shrubs, while taking into account the dimensions of the plants to be planted;
  • shading from the fence and from plantings should be taken into account;
  • the number of plants and planting density should be consistent with the dimensions of the site, do not overload it.

If the fence is transparent, such as a chain-link mesh, and you would like to hide from neighbors or an unpleasant view, then you can create a solid hedge.

Hydrangea

The best plants to use like blackthorn, chokeberry, vesicle, hawthorn, forsythia, lilac, and others.

A rose hedge looks beautiful, but it needs constant care.

Usually this is a single row fence, in which plants are planted in a previously dug trench (depth up to 50 cm) at a distance of 0.2 to 0.8 m, depending on the height of the shrub. To get a beautiful thick hedge, it must be trimmed. Moreover, the earlier and more often, the better, but do not forget that each plant has a different growth rate, which will determine the frequency of pruning.

You can increase the height of a deaf fence with the help of an ordinary planting of trees along it. When the crowns close, the plants are sheared, but this is a rather laborious process. From hardwoods, linden is best cut, you can also use elm.

It is very fashionable now to create compositions from decorative coniferous plants. with a slight splash deciduous trees and flowers. It can also be placed along the fence.

In the background, higher forms are planted: arborvitae (mostly columnar), dwarf pines, yews, cypresses. On the front- undersized and creeping, dwarf thuja, low spruce. Somewhere in the middle you can place a short deciduous plant on a trunk with a weeping crown (willow, birch).

If you hesitate before choosing which trees to plant along the fence, it is better to give preference to decorative forms of coniferous or deciduous trees with a high trunk.

Another interesting option is palmette.. It is not easy to create it, however, it is a very effective solution for the sunny side of the fence. It is a tree with a flat crown, located along the fence. For these purposes, pear, apple, mountain ash, creepers are suitable.

The latter can also be a decoration of the fence. For example, girlish five-leaf grapes will completely close the fence in a couple of seasons.

They also use vines, ivy and others.

Another option is to create a mixborder along the fence. from perennial and annual plants, flowering and decorative deciduous. In the background, it is worth planting low shrubs or trees.

In addition, do not forget that all plantings should be in harmony with all elements of the garden.

Landings along the tracks

The main core are the tracks. It is they, like a thread, that connect the individual elements together, combining them into one coherent composition. Therefore, it is very important to properly design them.

Moreover, it should be understood that landings along the road, which we are used to seeing in the city and outside the city, are basically not acceptable for a summer residence or estate. Indeed, in the latter case, plants are perceived at close range. Therefore, a natural question arises: what to plant along the path?

Classic variant- creating a border or rabatka from annual and perennial low plants, laying out small ribbon flower beds.

However, we will pay more attention to wood and shrub decoration.

There is no sense in a solid hedge. Only if you want to completely hide any unattractive view, such as a farm building. But if the path passes through the lawn, on which flower beds, beautiful groups are placed, then it is only necessary to emphasize the line.

To do this, you can create a low, about 30 cm high sheared border from (in warm areas, since the plant is thermophilic and does not tolerate frost without adequate shelter), a short form of thuja, which is periodically cut from an early age.

At the intersections of the paths, you can install a large stone and plant parthenocissus, directing part of the shoots to the boulder. Such a composition will become a kind of accent, which in the fall will be even more expressive due to the red foliage.

You can also plant individual specimens of creeping juniper and other conifers along the path.

A sparse ordinary planting of a columnar thuja will add solemnity, but the path must have a width of at least 1.5 m. Undersized spherical shapes will also fit perfectly into the general view.

As in the case of landings along the fence, it is worth observing the distance to the edge of the path. If it has a hard surface and a concrete side, then the norm for trees is 0.7-1.5 m, for shrubs - 0.5-1 m. For gravel coatings, this figure may be less.

If you prefer perennials and if you doubt that you can devote enough time to decorating, choose phlox, host or cleaner, popularly nicknamed "bear's ear" due to its fluffy pile. For a border, simple daisies are very well suited. Planted from December to March for seedlings, they are able to please gardeners with their bright bloom.

Phlox give excellent results when planted properly and with the added protection of a winter shelter. In addition, plants are very diverse, thanks to selection they have more than 20 flowers.

Perennial carnation prefers positive temperatures and is sown only in April-May. A magnificent ornament will be created by ordinary garden strawberries, borage, parsley and sorrel, which, with skillful care, will not only please the eye throughout the summer season, but will also give edible shoots and berries.

Love pleasant scents? Turn your attention to the unpretentious Roman chamomile, thyme and stone St. John's wort. Undemanding and worthy of attention, the Bulgarian or mountain gerbil, sown before winter, easily tolerates a lack of moisture and is resistant to trampling.

The space between the plates is recommended to be filled lawn grass saxifrage or greenfinch, which can be purchased in the form of seedlings or seeds. These plants will not only ennoble the appearance of your site, but also create a favorable atmosphere for dealing with annoying weeds.

hedges

Cute tenacity already in June or July will give a pleasant multicolor even among lazy gardeners, provided that they are properly planted on soft, humus-rich soils. The tenacious is propagated by rosettes and is planted from May until September. If you have matured to a dense flower hedge, purchase phloxes that can be planted in both autumn and spring, cinquefoil, peonies.

The outer edge of the paths, even in the garden, will be very appropriately decorated with a perfectly acclimatized silver alyssium, which belongs to the category of summer and spring herbs, an early grain in relation to the peduncle or dwarf types of bells.

Classic pansies or marigolds, classified as annual plants and planted already in April-May in open ground or for seedlings, will become a wonderful decoration of the garden and will delight others until late autumn.

Sun-loving geranium will delight you right up to August.

Nasturtium, verbena, heat-loving begonia, the potting of which can prolong the life and flowering of this plant already at home - all these unpretentious, but at the same time magnificent plants are an excellent addition to the garden landscape created by a skilled owner.

Tip 2: Types of materials for making a garden border

In landscape construction, the use of garden borders is widespread. They are used for framing the garden, edging it, serve as an excellent tool for preventing the destruction of the edges of the plantations.

Garden borders prevent unwanted weeds from entering the flower bed and are used as path decorations to create a cozy garden atmosphere. In order for this design to be useful and an excellent decor, it is necessary to correctly model its shape and choose the appropriate material.

Border material requirements

When choosing a material, you should definitely take into account its functionality and combination with vegetation. It is best to take care of strength, and in order for the garden to visually bring pleasure, the border must also be beautiful.

Currently, the choice of materials for the manufacture of decorative frames is large. They can serve as:
- bricks,
- metal fences,
- plastic borders are ideal,
- various bars,
- curb stone or slate.

Quite often, branches, weaving and a green fence are used. Polymers are another common material. They are durable and strong, thereby attracting gardeners and hobbyists.

In Thailand, for example, in the famous Nong Nooch garden, articulated clay pots with patterns are used as a border. Some of them contain flowering plants.

Features of individual materials

Using plastic borders, they are primarily guided by ease of installation. They are perfectly fastened, the material is almost invisible, which allows you to choose a certain style of framing.

As for metal products, they are mainly used for the manufacture of tracks. However, there is a significant disadvantage here - the high susceptibility of the material to corrosion.

From wood, as a rule, country-style terrain is made out. But wooden borders are prone to rapid decay, so frequent treatment with antiseptic materials is simply necessary here.

In addition, it is not uncommon to find borders made of marble and granite. Such structures are very durable and create a unique look.

Surprisingly, all kinds of plants can also serve as garden borders. As a rule, this stunted shrubs or various herbs that can overshadow unsightly places, but, unfortunately, do not give a clear boundary of the zones.

Border material is sold at any hardware store, and you can also use your own imagination and build a fence with your own hands. In this case, wire cords, old tires, fragments of bricks, bottles and much more will help. It is important to remember that the site should be decorated beautifully, harmoniously and tastefully, and therefore the material for framing should be chosen at the stage of planning the garden and building structures on the ground.

Charming fragrant verbena bushes will undoubtedly decorate the garden. The plant is quite compact, 20-40 cm high, so it will look good in flower beds along the paths next to other undersized flowers.

You will need

  • - boxes for seedlings;
  • - light loose soil;
  • - coarse sand;
  • - verbena seeds.

Instruction

Verbena has a fairly long growing season, so in our climate it is best grown through seedlings. Otherwise, you can not wait for flowering at all. Planting should begin in mid-February - early March.

Make a soil mixture suitable for verbena. The plant needs a light, not very nutritious soil. To do this, take soil from your garden and mix it with clean sand in a ratio of 2:1. Fill the planting boxes with soil and place a layer of coarse sand about 5 mm thick on top. Spread the seeds on the surface (they are quite large), then lightly press them into the soil and moisten with a spray bottle.

Verbena seeds need stratification. They need to create a little stress, in which case the seedlings will be friendly and the plants will be strong. Place the boxes with crops for 2-3 weeks on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, then transfer to a warm place.

As soon as the first shoots appear, verbena should be placed in a sunny place, since the plant is very photophilous. Water the seedlings as the top layer dries out, try not to overmoisten the clod of earth, as with excessive watering, the seedlings weaken and may die.

When 2-3 true leaves appear, plant the seedlings into separate pots and pinch their tops, which will promote the development of side shoots, and you will get compact lush bushes.

1-2 weeks before planting in the ground, start hardening seedlings of vervain. Take it out to the garden during the day or put it on the balcony. Such seedlings easily tolerate light frosts that occur in late spring and early summer, so permanent place it can be planted as early as mid-May.

Helpful advice

1-2 weeks after planting verbena in open ground, you can pin its shoots to the ground. In this place, additional roots will appear and a new bush of the plant will begin to develop. Thus, you can get a whole clearing of these beautiful flowers.

If you want on your suburban area greens and some other plants grew until autumn, then finish everything in July. This month is perfect for that.

First of all, I would like, of course, to say about salad vegetables. These cultivated plants can be planted almost the entire summer season. In addition, you have a fairly large selection. For example, you can plant lettuce, as well as arugula and watercress. Just keep in mind that planting lettuce in the July heat should be carried out in moist soil. Also, do not forget to water your crops quite often if the weather is dry, otherwise the leaves of the vegetables will become rough and start to taste bitter.

Also in July, you can plant your favorite dill. This plant loves light and moisture quite strongly. If you do not water it in the heat, then, like salad vegetables, it will begin to coarsen. If you want the dill to grow much faster, then before planting it, fill it with water, the temperature of which is 50 degrees, for about 20 minutes. After this procedure, soak the seeds for 3 days in cool water, remembering to change it quite often. Thanks to this, all substances that prevent it from growing will be washed out of the dill.

Don't forget the spinach too. This plant is planted not only in July, but also in August and September. In other words, until the snow falls.

In Rus', turnips were revered and respected by everyone. Unfortunately, this vegetable has lost popularity in Russia, but it is widely used in Asia, in addition, in this country there are quite a few species of this cultivated plant. If you want to plant turnips in July, then this should be done no later than the 15th. Remember that she does not like hot weather, which means that you should not neglect her watering, otherwise you will end up with very small and bitter fruits.

Experts believe that table beets can be planted not once, but as many as 3, that is, in the spring, in June and July. By planting this vegetable in the middle of summer, you will have young beets in the fall. When planting it, consider the size of the bed: the narrower it is, the faster the fruits of the plant will ripen.

Seedlings of Chinese and Beijing cabbage, like turnips, should also be planted no later than July 15th. Also in the middle of summer, you can plant early varieties of white cabbage. For its maturation, 50-55 days is enough. As you can see, summer season is in full swing!

It is no coincidence that back in the 19th century, phlox was already a popular crop in horticulture. And today in our gardens phlox has no equal. This is especially true for panicled phlox. After all, it is difficult to find a culture that can bloom for more than four months a year.

Starting to bloom at the end of June middle lane In Russia, early varieties of panicled phlox pass the baton to medium and late flowering until October.

Currently, a huge number of cultivars have been created. Most of them have excellent decorative qualities, with a pleasant aroma of flowering plants, but at the same time they inherited stamina and unpretentiousness from their ancestors.

There are so many phlox various colors, in which its inflorescences are painted. From the purest white and white with shades to pink, lilac, scarlet, purple, salmon, violet, carmine, inky dark. There is no only yellow tone in the culture. And the variety of colors of eyes in flowers is so interesting that one cannot but admire the beauty. Everything that a designer can dream of, and just a flower grower-lover of spectacular flowers.

It is worth wanting and you can choose any tone for decoration blooming garden, because in any group of colors there are many varieties of early, blooming in late June - early July, medium - mid-summer (July - early August) and late, blooming from late August until severe autumn cold snaps.

It is impossible not to say about the variegated forms of phlox, which will make up a harmonious company of asters, dahlias, cleomas, zinnias.

Phloxes are very good next to such reliable neighbors - perennials as daylilies, peonies, irises, monards, leucanthemums, aconites, heliopsis, clematis, goldenrods, stonecrops.

They will naturally fit into compositions by the water, in classic mixborders, in landscape gardens.

April is the middle of spring, which means it's time to work in your garden. This month, it is necessary not only to have time to collect last year's fallen leaves, dry grasses, branches, to process near-stem circles of fruit trees from pests and fungal diseases, but also to plant some crops.

What to plant in April in the country

In early April, you can start planting many cold-resistant crops. If the soil warms up to +8 degrees, and at night the air temperature does not drop below a couple of degrees with a minus sign, then you can plant radishes, peas, dill, seedless cabbage, lettuce, rhubarb, carrots, leaf celery and parsnips. Toward the middle of the month, you can start planting ordinary and leaf beets (chard). The end of April is a favorable time for planting early ripe cabbage.

What to plant in April in open ground

Cold-resistant crops like peas, radishes, leaf lettuce and others can be planted in open ground in April. Moreover, this month is very favorable for planting tomatoes in open ground with seeds. If the air temperature is set at 10 degrees during the day, and does not fall below zero at night, then you can safely plant tomatoes. It is worth noting that tomatoes grown in this way are more resistant to all kinds of diseases, plants are incredibly strong and give a good harvest. If the weather at night drops to -5 degrees, then in this case it is quite possible to plant spring garlic and onions with seeds, as well as parsley and sorrel (only the seeds should not be soaked before planting).

What to plant in a greenhouse in April

Absolutely all of the above crops (parsnips, sorrel, lettuce, beets, etc.) can be planted in the greenhouse in April, and early carrots can also be sown. The only difference between planting these crops in open ground and a greenhouse, in the latter, the first harvest can be done much earlier.

What to plant in April from flowers

Most gardeners in the spring, as soon as the earth warms up to a depth of 10 cm to +7 degrees, plant crocuses, daffodils, tulips and hyacinths, believing that these are the only flowers that are suitable for planting in such early term. However, there are other rather beautiful flowers that can also be planted in April. These include irises, phloxes, peonies and monards.

Flowers planted next to the house are incredibly decorative, make it look richer, add exclusivity. landscape design. The main thing is to know what plants can be planted in the yard and how to combine them correctly.

What flowers to plant in the yard and how to combine them correctly

It is important to select and combine beautiful flowers in the courtyard of a private house or at the entrances of multi-storey buildings so that there is no confusion afterwards. The basis of the flower garden is best made up of such perennials as, for example, roses, pansies, ageratum, etc. You can already plant around them annual plants, the choice of which today is simply huge. Primroses, crocuses that bloom first in the garden, tulips, daffodils, snowdrops will look best either in the background or along the path that leads to the house.

Hyacinths blooming in early May, irises of various shades that can shade the openwork of other plantings, cornflowers and Moscow daisies should be planted along the edges of the flower garden. A daylily, a picturesque plant with long leaves, should also be placed here, as it can become the dominant of the entire composition.

bushy beautiful flowers in the yard it is worth planting randomly. You can surround them with rose bushes, peonies, bluebells and petunias. On one of the beds, surrounded by daffodils and daisies, it is worth planting various varieties of lilies and chrysanthemums. If there are fruit trees, then the space around them can be decorated with such low flowers as lobelia, viola, marigolds or nasturtium.

If desired, you can place flowers in the yard in pots, but in winter they should be brought home - they can freeze. The best way out is to arrange an alpine flower garden from stonecrop, edelwes, young flowers, Turkish carnations. They can also surround a rock garden or a small fountain, if any, in your yard.

In the foreground of the flower garden, you can plant undersized plants. Carnations, periwinkles, alpine asters, dwarf irises, primroses and forget-me-nots will look great here. Directly near the house it is worth planting Datura, thin-leaved marigolds, gray-haired left, sea lobularia. Near the fence or gate - varietal lilac, black elderberry, silver sucker, red meadowsweet, medicinal valerian, etc.

Conclusion

Remember that it is necessary to group plantings taking into account the height and size of plants, their flowering period. When choosing flowers for decorating the yard, be guided by your taste. And one more thing - do not be afraid to experiment and remove or, conversely, add any other flowers other than those named in this article, move them from foreground to background and back. Let your flower garden please you with early spring until late autumn in bright colors.

Planting flowers beautifully is an art. It is necessary to have not only good taste, but also some knowledge and practical skills. First of all, you need to choose a strategy for creating a flower garden, for beginners, strict forms and unpretentious varieties. The key to a chic flower bed for a beginner grower is dense planting and contrasting colors.

Instruction

When organizing a flower garden, it is very important to place accents correctly. Put something in its center beautiful flower bed. This will allow you to place flowers more favorably, to attract maximum attention to them. The central flower bed can be either an independent part of the landscape, or an element that echoes the secondary components of the flower garden.

Creating a cozy and unique design of the backyard, the owners, through logical reflection or assessment of practical needs, will come to the conclusion that it is necessary to plan and build garden paths. The next question that will arise in this regard is the option of their paving.

Construction and decoration of garden paths

Professionals who have extensive experience in the production of paving paths and the so-called enthusiasts, who improve their sites using a variety of methods, give a positive description of the paving process that is not complicated, interesting and brings amazing results. The first advantages noted by people who have tried the paving method are the increased comfort of the created conditions, an aesthetically attractive appearance. For example, stone paths after the past rain will quickly shake and dry out, in the cold season they will not create problems when cleaning from ice and snow.

Having delved a little into the process, it becomes clear that the paved paths prevent subsidence of the upper layers of the earth and their erosion, as well as the spread of dirt formed during precipitation over the area. Designers also refer to the pluses and focus on the fact that the paved path on the site will not only become a bright fragment of the decor, but also unite its different zones.

Making garden paths with your own hands

Experts advise - when paving the path, do not forget about the need to decorate it with a curb. It will serve as a rigid fixer for the boundaries of the path, as well as protect its edge from deformation, especially under the influence of various climatic conditions. A border is not a necessary condition, but it is he who can advantageously emphasize and preserve for a longer period an unusual, original way paving. Basically, the curb is not used only when the path is planned from natural stone various configurations or concrete slabs.

Such a fence as a curb can protrude 5-15 cm above the ground. It can be made from different building materials: from special concrete blocks for curbs, from wood or concrete, natural stone or brick. The most commonly used curb material is red brick. Mount it upside down into the ground. This edging option does not require large financial investments and special skills. If the shape of the redbrick border is planned with bends, a cement mortar should be prepared, which will be needed to fill the seams and jointing.

It will be interesting to look like a border made of a pod. Podtovarnik - chocks with a curved cut, about half a meter long, about 10 cm in diameter. A crooked end is better than a straight one, because it allows the unhindered outflow of precipitation, in turn preventing rotting of the upper part of the wooden fragment. In order to maximize the life of such a curb, you need to apply an antiseptic on the chocks and wrap their lower part with roofing paper.

Making a border from natural, large, flat stone is as follows:

  • the source material is laid to a certain depth and covered with earth;
  • when the stones are not large enough, the curb is drawn up with the help of a solution.

In cases where a garden path is planned from slag, sand, gravel, pebbles, a curb is a must. The most durable and strongest will be a concrete curb stacked on a concrete base.

Making a path to the house

A successful combination of motley building materials (brick, tile, wood, gravel) will add splendor and originality to the backyard. All paths on the site should be elegant and practical at the same time. And those that are located directly next to the residential building must also guarantee a hassle-free and comfortable approach, and possibly even an entrance, to it in any weather conditions.

How to decorate a garden path

To make the path beautiful, you should first consider the option of decorating it. When choosing, you should consider the material from which the track is made and its color. For example, plants with flowers of a similar shade (calendula or marigolds) will fit a brick path, or vice versa, a contrasting one that would emphasize the orange tint of the material.

If the path is cement and has an inexpressive color, then the plants along it should attract all attention to themselves, i.e. they should be distinguished by the brightness of color and the elegance of form.

When decorating garden paths, you can use both perennial, annual, and perennial, but, when choosing the latter, the decor of the path will have to be thoroughly corrected and restored.

In the event that the paving of the path was done beautifully and from expensive natural materials, then it’s not better to organize lawn stripes on the sides of it - it will emphasize the attractive appearance and color of the material. At some distance, you can plant flowering plants - hosts, irises. At the points where the paths intersect, designers recommend equipping flowerbeds of creeping and rapidly growing plants; planting a ground cover rose is a very good option.

What plants to plant along the paths

Of course, it is impossible to give an unambiguous answer to the question of what colors are best for decorating paths in the garden. The choice will depend on the style of the landscape, its color scheme, and on the personal preferences of the garden owners. But general recommendations on this matter can still be taken into account.

For example, paths framed by daylilies planted along them will look very attractive. The originality of the plant composition will be given by planting a daylily in a certain order with different shades of flowers: burgundy, yellow, orange, lilac, the second attractive moment is different flowering periods, if you choose the varieties of daylily correctly, then the path will always be surrounded by flowers - flowering of another.

If a grassy border was constructed during the design of the droshky, then bushes of sedge or cereal crops, other plants with variegated leaves or decorative inflorescences can be planted along it. Brightness throughout the summer will give the track a periwinkle framing it. Irises, hyacinths, daffodils or tulips are also suitable for planting, but it should be remembered that they bloom once a season, in early spring. For example, delicate daisies will bloom throughout the summer.

Framing paths will look more interesting if you pick up plants and plant them in such a way that you get tiers. In the first of them, of course, there will be creeping or undersized:

  • tenacious or stonecrop,
  • periwinkle or saxifrage,
  • thyme or lungwort,
  • coin loosestrife, primrose.

The second tier can be formed from medium-sized crops, these can be annuals or perennial creeping coniferous plants, bergenia, high primroses.

From the tall ones, to create the third tier, you can plant lilies and panicled phloxes, astilba, falaris. You can also plant columnar conifers. The plants used in one composition should be combined in the shape and color of the leaves and flowers, the height of the tiers should be such that the plants are clearly visible and do not shadow each other.

Planting creeping or low-growing plants on uneven areas will help visually brighten up steps and potholes on the ground surface.

With a difference in ground height, the path has to be equipped with steps. You can also decorate steps with flowers, moreover, well-chosen types of them will help to make an even flight of stairs or an uninteresting flat section of the path intricately curved. This will require large, branched plants to be planted at several points, which will block the view of the continuation of the path.

You can also plant small-sized plants, which, as they grow, will roll over the edges of the path, thereby hiding all the errors made during its construction.

Making paths in the garden with flower beds

floral borders

Often, flowerbeds of certain types are used as finishes for paths. The simplest, but quite attractive dense strip of plants, called a flower border, can have different widths. It can use carpet plants, several types, growing very compactly. You can also use more tall plants planted in several rows. Smaller ones are planted closer to the track, subsequent, higher rows, with proper planning, should close with them. Most often used for this purpose: marigolds, verbena, stonecrop, ageratum.

discounts

Wider and more colorful flower beds located along the paths are called discounts. The recommended width is from 0.5 m to 1.5 m. If the track is long, then the discount should be made intermittent. Such flower beds can be double-sided or one-sided. The latter are usually located near fences or walls of buildings, while tall plants should be planted closer to the walls or fence.

If the track lies in an open space, then a two-sided discount is equipped. Several types of plants used in it are planted in the form of an ornament or parallel stripes. It is also supposed to select a certain color scheme: white-pink, pink-burgundy, purple-yellow, yellow-blue.

In a double-sided discount, tall plants are placed along the middle line.

mixborders

Mixborders look more natural and relaxed, they are usually used to improve the area near buildings or hedges, to border paths. the width of such a mixed-type flower bed can be from one and a half to four meters, the length can be up to tens of meters. For a mixborder, you can pick up about two to three dozen different types plants, but always in such a way that their flowering period follows each other. When planning a mixborder with a width of more than one and a half meters, it is advisable to provide for the presence of a path in the middle of it, or at least a passage - it will be more convenient to take care of the flowers and water them.

Plants in the mixborder are placed in three groups - the tallest of them should bloom at the end of summer, the middle ones - in June-July, undersized perennials- with a spring flowering period, it is desirable that they have bright, decorative leaves. Early-flowering bulbous plants are placed closer to the middle, their wilted leaves after flowering will hide colorful plants located in the foreground.

When planting perennial crops, one should not forget that over time they will grow. The space left between them in the first year can be filled with annual plants.

A fence around the local area or summer cottage is a necessary thing. It not only marks the boundaries of the property, but also protects the landings from visiting the territory by uninvited neighboring pets.

Also, the fence can become an artificial wind protection for many plants. We will try to figure out what to plant along the fence so that this protective structure looks attractive. Plants can be both from the inside and from the outside of the fence.

What trees to plant along the fence

Trees to plant on the outside of the fence

Trees on the outside of the street, in addition to the aesthetic function, act as a kind of filter that traps street dust and exhaust gases. For the outside of the fence, trees that can withstand pruning well and are not too valuable or rare will help to avoid vandalism. In addition, you need to choose plants that are unpretentious and resistant to frost, drought and other adverse conditions. For these purposes, the most suitable:

  • small-leaved elm
  • common elm
  • Rowan
  • river maple
  • Tatar maple

European elm

In the wild, the common elm is found almost everywhere in deciduous forests. It is found in the European part, in Siberia, in the Caucasus, in the Baltic states. In Kazakhstan. The tree grows up to 25 meters in height. The plant is shade-tolerant, drought-resistant.

Elm has been used in landscaping for a very long time, due to the fact that it not only tolerates a haircut well, but also keeps its shape well. It has many decorative forms:

  • silver-colored
  • golden mottled
  • red

The disadvantages of elms include exactingness to the fertility of the land. On poor soils, the growth of these trees slows down. In addition, elms can attract unwanted pests and be actively damaged by them. The undoubted advantage is that the common elm lives for a very long time, up to 200-300 years.

Conifers for the inside of the fence

From the inside of the fence can be planted primarily coniferous trees with slow growth and with decorative needles and crown. In addition to decorative conifers trees purify the air and release healthy phytoncides. IN summer time to create a contrast with dark needles, bright annual flowers can be planted near plantings.

For landing near the fence on the inside fit:

  • low-growing species of prickly spruce
  • medium-sized spruce species
  • decorative types ate gray
